Epibator (eh-PIH-bah-tor) is a new genus that was split out from Zootrophion because the three species included have vine-like habit not found in Zootrophion and because the flowers are connate at the apex only, not at the base, are not box-like with rigid sides and a convex floor as in Zootrophion. There are also differences in how the flowers emerge from junction of the ramicaul.
