Masdevallia Sally Schnellmann

(M. coccinea alba x M. Northern Lights)

Plant ID: 04124

Additional Information: M. coccinea flattened the flowers of this cross out quite a bit and made them very attractive as far as form goes. As happens many times, M. coccinea alba - especially the Snowbird clone, tends to come up with some pink flowers when crossed with orange or yellow. M. Northern Lights did contribute an orange glow to the flowers of this clone centrally and on the caudae. The flowers are on tall stems above the foliage.

Masdevallia Sally Schnellmann was named to honor Sally for everything she is doing to support Leslie, Roofus and Airedale Rescue. This cross is between a white flower and an orange flower that comes up a beautiful pink (you gotta understand genetics of flowers to know that this can happen). The white is the snow of the mountains that Sally now calls home. The orange is the sun of the sunshine state where Sally was so active with Airedales for many years. The pink is the result of these two places and a special Airedale named Roofus that brought Sally into Leslie’s life and to Planet Roofus. Sally has so much experience and love to share.
