|Masdevallia and Affiliates|
Masdevallia and Affiliates, written by member Lisa Thoerle, who explains the newly accepted divisions of Masdevallia that Carl Luer outlined in Icones Pleurothallidinarum, volume 28. It starts with some background information leading up to the dismantling of the genus Masdevallia and is followed by a detailed discussion of each of the 20 genera that emerged, including Masdevallia. There are over 100 beautiful color photographs by Lynn O’Shaughnessy (and a few by Ron Parsons and Steven Lubar) to illustrate the genera.

On behalf of the National Capital Center I wish to thank the Pleurothallid Alliance for making a copy of your recent publication Masdevallia and Affilliates available to our Judging Center. As you know, having an up-to-date reference guide on any genera is an invaluable tool for all judging centers. We are grateful for the time and effort your group has put into making this work on the reorganization of the masdevallias an insightful and thorough publication. The detailed written discussions are very concise and the pictures are wonderful.
