Fissia (FISS-ee-ah) contains three species characterized by small, caespitose habit, a single-flowered peduncle, an inflated floral bract enclosing an ovary with markedly wavy ridges. The sepals are free. The petals are callous on the margin towards the lip producing a rounded process above the base and with a sharply three-pointed tip. The lip is oblong with marginal folds. This genus used to be at the subgeneric level.
